18 Months

18 Months

AA is now a full toddler. Walking everywhere and finding his way into and out of everything. All items in the house are considered toys. Favorite new English words are hooray, "Brown Bear" (inspired by Eric Carle's book), sock and shoe (properly pronounced "thock" and "thew" by AA). Favorite new Hebrew words are "parpar" (butterfly, again thanks to Eric Carle), ochel (food), challah (bread), and af (Hebrew for nose). He can repeat in English most numbers 1-10 and most of the alphabet although a bit of creativity is needed to interpret some of the numbers/ letters. He uses his 15+ teeth to eat away and loves especially to feed himself yogurts. Below are the typical month pictures, many videos (including the first one ever taken by AA himself, needless to say without us knowing), and pictures that we think capture his personality.

Hard to believe, but he actually built that block stack by himself

15 Months

AA is now nearly 16 months. Latest achievements are standing, taking a few steps, climbing stairs, and saying 5-10 words; mama, abba (father in Hebrew), bye bye, more, toda (thank you in Hebrew), "ba" (for peek-a-"ba"), and down are the most consistent. He has started a new preschool and is enjoying being the youngest of them all. Captions in the video titles and below the pictures tell even more of his story. Enjoy!

Some hikes are more exciting than others!

Excited to wear shoes for the first time and enjoying a favorite food - banana

1 Year!

AA is now a year old, hard to believe. Lots of new activities and many still to come. Abba was the rage last post and for about 2 months it was in turn only Mama. Now it is both, albeit not always directed specifically to his parents. AA is starting to pull to stand, or at least stays there for a few seconds when placed. His new favorite activity is reading, in a language that no one seems to fully understand. Also loves placing special surprises in our shoes. Credit to Randy Barnes for the amazing picture (again) of Jen serving AA cake at his birthday party. The party was a children's story with the help of a live bunny and turtle.

10.5 Months

This past month was definitely the "Abba" month. Everything and anything to AA is "Abba", from me to Jen to a favorite toy. Jen had a work event in Austin called "South by Southwest" and brought AA as her "start-up". AA had his first trip to Israel and got to see his great-grandparents while there. His new tricks to add to the mix are blowing kisses and clapping, and he performs both on command. He also loves playing catch. AA now has two teeth that are fully in and put to good use on a daily basis while eating just about everything. He has continued his father's tradition of playing with cups and enjoys them fully in lots of environments, including the plan back from Israel. Tons of videos and pictures below.

9 Months

The three biggest accomplishments for AA this month are as follows: AA now has a tooth, he crawls, and says a non-specific "Abba" (Dad in Hebrew). Below is a picture from a recent trip to Silver Spring, MD (our future home) with AA in a comfy Southwest Airlines chair. In addition, there is a close up that with a little imagination you can make out the tooth poking through on AA's right bottom gum. Videos include pre-crawling, actual crawling, and AA's first attempts at saying "Abba". In the last video you can see Jen's fantastic Purim costume for AA, dressed up just like his father, a doctor.
